UTRS’s Montana-based titanium initiative – Universal Achemetal Titanium, LLC (UAT) – has helped launch a nonprofit to help veterans, as well as members of our armed services who are transitioning to civilian life, and their families with skills-based training for advanced manufacturing.

In less than a year, UAT formed the Next Frontier Advanced Manufacturing Institute (NFAMI), a 501(c)(3) organization. This involved working closely with LIFT, a public-private initiative that has generated stellar programs for advanced manufacturing training, while developing a partnership with Highlands College of Montana Tech University.

The program is now delivering training for which participants can earn an American Welding Society or National Institute for Metalworking Skills certification. The goal is to thank our veterans for their service – through the opportunity to gain high-value skills for the transition to civilian life – while boosting the pipeline of critically-needed workers for increasingly higher-tech manufacturing and welding jobs.
