CATS BLUE LYNX EXTENSION

Corrosion control design for 9.3 miles of a new double-track light rail transit (LRT) in Charlotte, North Carolina. UTRS developed 30%, 65%, 90%, and 100% drawings and specifications for the project. The design included a stray current mitigation and monitoring system for the light rail system, including platforms, elevated track, overpasses and tunnels. The design also included cathodic protection and stray current mitigation for all water, sewer and storm drain crossings in the project corridor. UTRS designed and installed the nation’s first earth gradient test stations for a transit system. The system allows the detection of stray current direction and magnitude at intersections with roadway crossings.
