Senator Jon Tester, D-Mont., Tours UTRS Research Lab in Butte

Butte, MT, May 8, 2010—Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) was excited and honored to have U.S. Senator Jon Tester (D-Montana) visit its laboratory research and development facility in Butte, Mont.

UTRS has been conducting ground-breaking research in its Butte facility in the area of Titanium Extraction, Mining and Process Engineering Research (TEMPER) since 2003. TEMPER is a congressionally supported program sponsored by the United States Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) to answer a call from the United States Army for less expensive, more readily available titanium that is manufactured with a greener process. UTRS has successfully manufactured liquid titanium using a prototype furnace designed and developed by scientists at the UTRS research and development center.
