CORROSION CONTROL

Corrosion is a safety threat, undermining the structural integrity of pipelines, transit systems, ship hulls, oil rigs, bridges, power plants, and other structures critical to our nation’s economy and security. Cathodic Protection (CP), the most successful method used to protect against corrosion, is a process in which UTRS has in-depth expertise and wide-ranging experience.

OUR CAPABILITIES

Our NACE certified engineers and technicians have in-depth expertise in all aspects of corrosion control engineering, including testing, inspections, design, installation, training, operations and maintenance, construction management, evaluation and analysis, and the creation of standards and policies. Using the latest technologies and most innovative methods available, we provide cost-effective solutions without compromising integrity or quality, ensuring our customers complete satisfaction. We provide the following services to both the public and private sectors:

Provide corrosion control for pipelines, concrete structures, power plants, refineries, water and wastewater treatment plants, above-ground storage tanks, and interior and exterior submerged structures
Update and issue new standards and specifications to either supplement or replace current standards.
Instruct corrosion classes for NACE International, the Water Wastewater Education Training (WWET) consortium, the Pennsylvania AWWA, the Maryland DEP, The AWWA Chesapeake section, the ASME Silverstate section, the Liberty Bell Corrosion Courses, and several NACE sections.
Conduct CP repairs, installation, and system upgrades for airports, including Miami International Airport, Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, Fort Lauderdale International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, Reagan National Airport, and Jackson Hole Airport.
Conduct tests of underground water piping, and annual surveys on underground storage tanks that involves measuring interference effects on adjacent piping.
Conduct ultrasonic thickness and pitting measurements on underground jet fuel pipelines, including close interval surveys (CIS).
Design and develop protection systems for floating bridges, solar arrays, fuel and oil waste pipelines, water/wastewater infrastructure, and many other types of structures.
Provide training sessions to enhance our clients’ understanding of the corrosion control programs we have designed and installed for them
Provide technical support and serve as client’s subject matter experts at meetings and in discussions with others related to corrosion control

OUR CORROSION CONTROL SUPPORT

The UTRS Corrosion Control Team supports our country’s airports, railroads, utility systems, bridges, tunnels, and storage tanks. We detect problems before they occur, fix critical corrosion issues, and strive to keep our infrastructure safe for future generations.
